As I'm into my 70s I'm not sure that I'm that long-term career-minded  Roll Eyes but I understand the need for continuing development and any programme that offered this (in a Buddhist context) would meet that need in me.  I'm living proof that old dogs can be taught new tricks, and maybe even have nasty old ones 'extinguished'  Wink.

Several years back I did a course in the Prison service ("Starting Out") for newly appointed prison chaplains.  It involved completing an 'experiential' journal, mentoring and supervision by an experienced chaplaincy colleague, and a residential inter-faith module at the prison staff training college at Newbold Revel near Rugby, led by the wonderfully gracious Rev Wendy Carey.  The whole package was interesting, extending and - for me - a spiritual growth-point.  I wonder if other subscribers have done it, and if it is still running?

Dear Mr Blomeley,

This is my first visit to this site.  I found it from a web search for Buddhist Chaplaincy Training, for which I am interested in.  I spotted under this post that it said

"If you would like to know more about a career as a Buddhist Chaplain please reply to this forum. We have created career development programme for your consideration."

And so I hit the "reply" button.  Any information re my interests to become a Buddhist Chaplain will be highly appreciated.  I currently have a BA Degree, Psychology, from UCSC.  I will check this site again, for it looks like a fortunate result of my search.

My sincere gratitude,

Sonam Dorje

Sonam,

Welcome to the forum. Our efforts are concentrated in the South East of the United Kingdom at the moment. But if you are based anywhere in the UK and prepared to travel you would be welcomed to attend a course.

If you are still in the US there are courses and accredited systems in place which you can easily find with a google search.

Warm regards,

Matthew

Good evening - very interesting project. Well done for getting it off the ground and my sincere best wishes for a successful future.

I live in the South East and am interested in getting involved in chaplaincy.
